Interactive Mapping Application Help
If you have trouble with the mapping applications, please email us with your problem—almost all problems are simple and can be resolved very easily but you need to let us know you are having a problem for us to help you.

Pop-Up Windows (problems with print, save, layers, etc.)
Most of the mapping applications (especially the Parcel Information System) rely on pop-up windows to display additional information. These windows are necessary due to the amount of information and number of functions available in the applications. If you have pop-up blocking toolbars (Google, MSN, etc.) or software you need to allow pop-ups at our site. With pop-ups blocked, the applications will not function as intended at best, and at worst, they will not function at all (Loading…)

Aerial Photos
The Parcel Information System has two years of aerial photos available in the Layers (1999 and 2002).
New York State plans to fly new aerial photos for our area in the Spring of 2006, depending on funding. That means we could have new aerial photos included in our applications by early 2007.
The county also maintains many years of historical air photos that may be converted to digital format in the future. These digital versions could then be included in the applications.

Additional Layers Requested
Some of you suggested additional layers be included in the mapping applications. Some of these layers exist already, some are being created, and some do not exist. In the next few months we will look at adding existing layers and whether the ones that do not exist could be easily created. If you want more information about specific layers you would like added, please email us.

City of Binghamton Information
As many of you know, the city maintains their own tax parcel information. That information is not suitable for our applications due to data problems. The city currently has a grant which will allow them to clean up their digital tax parcels and hopefully by working with Broome County, their information can be included within the next year or two.
In the meantime, we may try to implement a stop-gap measure which would allow limited city data available in the Parcel System, but without parcel boundaries. If this is feasible, it would be implemented within the next few months.

More Static Maps Available
Some of you suggested that more static maps be made available in the Map Library. We continue to identify maps to be created and made available in the Map Library as staff time allows.
